Psychometric Testing for International Recruitment
Helping a mining recruiter identify the right candidates to bring to Australia.
Situation and Challenge
This recruitment company were undertaking an international recruitment drive for one of their clients in the mining sector. Their client wished to hire a number of candidates from overseas for a range of both professional and frontline roles, including project managers, engineers, mechanics, and fitters.
Given the significant cost involved in relocating these employees to Australia, they wished to utilise psychometric testing to give them valuable additional insight into each candidate and to assist them in selecting the best candidates for each role.
They also required fast turnaround times for testing and reports so that they could proceed with making offers and beginning the time-consuming and involved process of organising visas, flights, and relocation.
Solutions
Given the unique nature of some of the roles, the work environment, and the client’s requirements, we customised different combinations of assessments for each role. Most of these involved a combination of personality, emotional intelligence, behavioural safety, safety leadership, and cognitive abilities, which varied from role to role.
We also adapted our generic report templates to reflect the particular competencies that the client wished to assess and focus on.
Result
All 13 candidates were setup quickly and sent their assessment details via email, with follow-up and support provided as needed to ensure they were able to complete their assessments without issues.
All assessments were completed and reports generated in just over a week and additional debriefing was provided to the client over the phone for those candidates with marginal results.
The client were happy with the result and quick turnaround and have continued to use our services for other international and local recruitment.
